WATER BALLOONS
This image means more to me than I can possibly put into words.. I had the opportunity to be given an assignment of capturing a youth center in Lewiston, Maine. It was unusual for Maine; a 94 degree day (humid) in June.. As I made my way to this center from another assignment I traveled neighborhoods via navigation from the middle class to lower middle to the very poor. I saw children outside their homes, their eyes lifeless, in the heat of the day without a direction. Small children alone. So wrong. I enter the grounds of the center. In my BMW and full of shame ( I purposely drive to the back to hide); 3 children. My assignment contact meeting me with a large smile and overflowing happiness: "we just drove the neighborhood and shouted.. center! Water balloons!! Now!" "There will be a lot of children here soon, I hope you are ready miss Amy!" She shouts.
The joy did come.. .. next blog.. more pics of this joy..
